Draped Bust Half 1806 (AU)

Some years ago I placed a "Wanted" ad in Coin World to buy any Draped Bust Half in very choice AU for $900. Someone, I think from MD, sent me this one. At the time it wasn't my idea of a choice AU so I countered with an $825 offer and it was accepted. It just goes to show that those CW ads do occasionally pay off. I think this coin would probably slab AU-55 today but then you couldn't read the edge lettering.

Although I'm mainly a foreign collector I have a few left over USA coins that have hung around.  A sampling is shown at left.

1878-S  silver dollar   (uncirculated)

This is my 1878-S  Morgan era silver dollar. I'm not sure whether it's the 7 or 8 tail feather variety? My Yeoman's Redbook of US coins lists it around $25., however I'm not a really a US collector

1880-P dollar
 (P/L select uncirculated)

This is another dollar as it indicates on the reverse. As I can't find a mint mark I assume it's an 1880-P. This one really has some golden toning. I like the Indian style however.
